Counseling for Chronic Illness & Pain
You've been diagnosed with a chronic illness or have been experiencing pain and ailments for a while now. Something that wasn't your choice and was out of your control has greatly impacted your way of living. Your life is now changed and even the way you view the world has too. You might be feeling scared, lost, hopeless because you don't think you can ever feel better again. Adapting to your "new normal" is hard and you don't feel like anyone truly understands what you've been going through.
I provide therapy to those diagnosed with cancer, crohn's and colitis, diabetes, arthritis, ongoing physical pain, etc., and their family members.
I know it's exhausting and at times you feel lonely. It's tough to remember happier days when things seemed easier and life didn't feel as difficult. It's normal to feel confused, sad, and unsure how to process your pain. You don't know what comes next, but you know you want to start reconnecting with life again. I help you with pain and stress management, grounding tools, boundaries, family dynamics, self-care, regulating emotions, and coping techniques.
In my approach to help you with your individual needs, I use integrative techniques with a strong emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Practices. Together we leverage your strengths, hone in on your values, and implement various assignments and tools to help you reduce symptoms, improve mood, and live a more satisfied life.
